Spring NKY Drive/Cruise

April 23, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

As the weather is warming and the cars are coming out of hibernation, it’s time for another drive in the country, taking the back roads and twisties of Northern KY on April 23rd, 9am to about 3pm.  Like we done in the past, this will be casual drive, with a stop for BBQ in the middle and a gathering at the end for those that are interested.

I’m a little later than I wanted to be getting this out due to some work travel, but like we’ve asked for in the past, we are requesting pre-registration via this Google form by Thurs, April 20th.  This is needed to get an accurate count of drivers and guests, and to help figure out drive groups and staffing at the restaurant.

Note: The pre-registration DOES NOT take the place of our driving events waiver and wristbands.  All Participants MUST sign the waiver form and get a wristband BEFORE starting the tour.

We’ll start at the Park & Ride on Gloria Terrell Dr. in Wilder, KY, just off the AA Highway, meeting at 9:00am.  After we get situated, fueled up, and waivers signed, drivers can start heading out on the route around 9:30am for about a 1.5 hour jaunt roughly southeast towards Milford, KY, then towards Falmouth, KY, stopping at The Smoking Pig Tavern for lunch.

There is a large parking lot around the block across the street from the Tavern that can accommodate everyone (destination noted in the directions).  The Smoking Pig has a great selection of pork, chicken and brisket sandwiches, plus snacks, sides, and burgers that should satisfy everyone’s built up hunger.  Take a look at the menu!

After lunch, we’ll continue, on a loop up and around back to the east and the Ohio River.  You can also feel free to call it a day, cut over to nearby US-27, and head home.  Otherwise, we’ll head generally east towards Augusta, KY, over the course of 1.5 hours.  We’ll end near Augusta, KY near the banks of the Ohio, at the Baker-Bird Winery & Distillery, the largest, oldest wine cellar in America!

At the end of the fun, feel free to head home, or join us for a tasting and tour.  I need to know as soon as possible to sort out details on the wine tasting, so please let me know if you are interested as soon as possible.  The tour would likely be at 3pm, so expect to wrap things up around 4pm.

A few notes:

  • Again, please pre-register by clicking on the link here and filling out the Google Form to indicate you are coming by April 20th!  I need to get an idea of numbers, organize driving groups, and give the restaurant a heads up a week in advance.  I’ll also place a reservation at the winery for a tasting and tour.
  • Rather than paper forms, we have implemented an electronic waiver system with the BMW CCA to speed up registration in the morning.  All participants MUST sign the e-waiver form and get a wrist band at the Park & Ride BEFORE starting the tour!!  Save time and sign the electronic waiver ahead of time!  Just click the link below on your phone!

  • For those that can’t make the start of the drive, feel free to meet up with us anywhere along the route.  Please email me directly so that we know to look for you!
  • Driving Directions:
We’ll have some copies of the directions, but please refer to the ones here and use the Google links.  These links should show up on your phone and provide turn by turn directions for each half of the route.
