Fall NKY Drive

It’s yet again time for drive in the country, taking the back roads and twisties of Northern KY on August 27th, 9am to about 3pm.  Like we’ve done in the past, this will be casual drive, with a stop for BBQ in the middle and a gathering at the end for those that are interested.

Once again, we are requesting pre-registration via this Google form.  This is needed to get an accurate count of drivers and guests, and to help figure out drive groups and staffing at the restaurant.

Note: The pre-registration DOES NOT take the place of our driving events waiver and wristbands.  All Participants MUST sign the waiver form and get a wristband BEFORE starting the tour.

To avoid some deteriorating roads we’ve taken in the past, we’ll start this time nearby at Biggby Coffee in Taylor Mill, KY.  This is one exit west off I-275 from the Park & Ride we’ve used in the past.  We’ll meet at 9:00am, get situated, fueled up, and get waivers signed, and then drivers can start heading out on the route around 9:30am for about a 1:45 hour jaunt roughly southeast towards Milford, KY, then around towards Falmouth, KY, stopping at The Smoking Pig Tavern for lunch.

There is a large parking lot around the block across the street from the Tavern that can accommodate everyone.  The Smoking Pig has a great selection of pork, chicken and brisket sandwiches, plus snacks, sides, and burgers that should satisfy everyone’s built up hunger.  Take a look at the menu!

After lunch, we’ll continue on a loop up and back across US-27 a few times.  You can feel free to call it a day, cut up US-27 and head home.  Otherwise, voting on a wine or a beer stop was very close, but this time around, we’ll try for some end of summer wines at Atwood Hill Winery, in Morning View, KY.  This route is about 1.5h long, bringing us a bit closer to Cincinnati and an easy trip home, or join us for a tasting if you’d like.  I need to know as soon as possible to sort out details at the end, so please let me know if you are interested as soon as possible!  Please email me with any questions!

A few notes:

• Again, please pre-register by clicking on the link here and filling out the Google Form to indicate you are coming!  I need to get an idea of numbers, organize driving groups, and give the restaurant a heads up a week in advance.
• Rather than paper forms, we have implemented an electronic waiver system with the BMW CCA to speed up registration in the morning.  All participants MUST sign the e-waiver form and get a wrist band at the Park & Ride BEFORE starting the tour!!  Save time and sign the electronic waiver ahead of time!  Just click the link below on your phone!  The link is fixed below, so be sure to try it again if it didn’t work before.

  Please refer to links below for turn by turn directions for each part of the route.  These are much easier to follow with a navigator.  Google Maps links require a bit of interaction during the drive.  Rallista is a new app that is meant for these kinds of drives and requires no interaction.  Both have the same route, so the choice is yours.
